FloraLake MiEbony Gryphon CSI S05515-07 - Born July 13, 2007
Sire: * Hawk's Midnite Shadow ABC 2300
Dam: * Mead's Ebony Spirit ABC 3050
This handsome, black, smooth coated, colt has a white star, snip, four white socks, and has lots of presence. He has high withers, a sloping shoulder, well musceled hind quarters, a pretty head, a very friendly temperament, and big movement. Gryphon is the result of tight line breeding. Both parents are 15.3 hands, and at the age of three he now measures 16 hands.
In August 2009, Gryphon was started under saddle by Gary Marsolais( 60 days). Brilliant trainers Mercedes Barrow, Karina McDuff & Rebecca Musselman have allowed Gryphon to exceed all of our expectations.
In the early summer of 2010 we headed to our first schooling show at Ridgelawn farm. Ridden by Mercedes Barrow, Gryphon placed 4th out of more than 20 horses in the open hunter under saddle. What pleased us even more than his placing was him amazing attitude. Gryphon enjoyed every minute of his fist show. Mercedes Barrows is a wonderful trainer who laid a beautiful schooling foundation !
The next weekend we travelled to Brookside Equestrian Centre for the first show in the Conestoga Cadora Dressage Series. Gryphon was shown by Erin Jobidon and placed first in the Open Walk Trot division with a 68.751.
Gyphon also attended Stratford District Saddle Club ridden by Karina McDuff -a junior amateur rider -placing in all three classes with two 2nd's and a third. Karina had experienced some consecutive bad luck with her two horses who had passed away -her and Gryphon formed a wonderful bond. Karina gave Gryphon even more varied experiences. Gryphon and Karina loved to play around and hack throughout the countryside!
Karina and her family has moved out to BC -Gryphon and I miss her !
Conestoga Dressage Show at Cornerstone Farm was a unique experience! I had just purchased a used trailer. The partition pin was sheared and the horse divider fell to the floor! Truely, if this wasn't a Curly horse both Erin Jobidon and I would have been spam in a can!LOL
Instead we settled Gryphon down, wrapped binder twine and duct tape and continued to the show. With no warm up and jogging to the ring whilst tacking him up Gryphon placed second with a 64.286. You will note any photos of that day because his forlock was not even plaited!
Midsummer came and went without much activity as I had strained my back
Final Walk Trot Conestoga Cadora Dressage Show hosted by Travis Hall Equestrian Centre. Since this was my first time driving the trailer, we shipped in the night before since we were the first showing at 7:30 am. Gryphon was amazing and took to his new environment with no stress. The next day he was first in the ring and first to place in the Open Walk Trot with a 69.524.
2010 Open Walk Trot Overall Championship goes to our three year old GRYPHON!!!
